Music Director: Bro. Rohan Jacques

The Edgewater Baptist Church in its quest for excellence in its Christian witness utilizes music in all its forms to minister to its members and the wider community.

The Ministry has the responsibility for the music-related activities and these are implemented through the following groups:

  • the Senior Choir – (26 members)
  • the Youth Choir – (15 members)
  • the Family Bible Hour (FBH) Choir – (20 members)
  • the Praise Team – (12 members)
  • the Dance Group – ‘Vessels of Praise’ (18 members)
  • the Sign Language Group- ‘Hands of Worship’

An accomplished Musician in the person of Deacon Derrick Ottey (one of the longest-serving in St. Catherine Baptist Association) and drummers complete the team.

The enthusiasm to serve God and to minister are the hallmarks of our Music Ministry. Accordingly, the Choirs have been serving the Church faithfully in regular services and have participated in a variety of activities within and outside of the Circuit – such as ministering at funerals, concerts, rallies and crusades. Some members of the team are also proud participants in the JBU Annual Assembly Combined Choir and SACABA Annual Convention Combined Choir. The Ministry’s main activity is an Annual Easter Cantata which has encouraged the coming together of all groups in this Ministry.

The Praise Team forms an integral part of all Worship Services. They meet on Saturdays to prepare for worship and ministry.

‘Vessels of Praise’, our dance group which was founded in February 2001. This group has grown both spiritually, numerically and the standard of their performance. Their major activity has been the Dance Production of 2001, which was an overwhelming success. They are proud winners of SACABAYA Junior Dance Competition. They have also ministered at several places across the parish.

The most recent addition to the Ministry is “Hands of Worship”, our sign language group.

The Music Ministry is ably directed by Sis Tulia Davis who is assisted by Bro Rohan Jacques. As members of the Ministry endeavour to be ambassadors for Christ by using their talents to give service and glory to God. Let us as a church continue to encourage and pray for their strength and continued commitment.
